Ian Mellett was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He went to Grey High School and finalised his legal, tax and business studies at both the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and the Rand Afrikaans University.
He was accepted to the South African Barr as a lawyer and soon after arriving in New Zealand, Ian Mellett was admitted as a New Zealand lawyer.
When you meet Ian, you will find out that he loves his sport. He’s played cricket at a provincial level, open in South Africa, opened the batting for South African provincial cricket teams,
For his ongoing commitment, past sponsorship and contribution to the local community and cricket club, Ian was appointed as an Honorary Vice President of Parnell Cricket Club in 2015.
He is a focused father, a regular Father Christmas at Christmas functions and has laid wreaths at the Cenotaph on behalf of the South African government during Remembrance Day Services.
